We experienced the best event in the history of Pálffy Manor! The second edition of the Journey Through Jura to ViaJur event is behind us. On Saturday, April 29, 2023, we opened our historic gates and, together with the acting stars of the series Dunaj, At Your Service, ceremonially christened the beautiful new rosé from our winery, VIAJUR Dunaj rosé 2022.
As many as 1,000 visitors passed through the gates of Pálffy Manor on Saturday, welcomed by our hostess, Katarína Pálffy, together with her husband, Štefan Illešházy. Hundreds of lovers of fine wine also visited our five-hundred-year-old wine cellars and tasted a selection of the very best wines from the VIAJUR winery. The most popular were the sweeter wines with residual sugar: VIAJUR Tramín červený 2021, VIAJUR Riesling liebling 2022 and VIAJUR Cabernet sauvignon rosé 2022.
The highlight of the day was the christening of the rosé, presented by a distinguished guest, Elizabeth Gabay, Master of Wine, together with the winery’s production director Tomáš Dilong. We are proud that this world-renowned rosé expert is a co-author of our unique wine. It is remarkable not only for its colour, aroma and taste, but also for its packaging—it is filled into popular and eco-friendly “take away” cans. The christening was symbolically performed with water from the Danube.
Immediately after the christening, fans of the family saga Dunaj, At Your Service had the opportunity to meet and take photos with their favourite actors—Ján Koleník, Marko Rozkoš, Petra Dubayová and Lesana Krausková. In addition to the experience, they took home a card with the actors’ signatures. And just as exceptional as this day and the christened wine was, so too was the autograph session itself: each card was issued with the event date and became a keepsake with the signature. The christening and autograph session were also covered by TV crews and many other media outlets.
While tastings took place in the cellars, Talostan entertained children in the courtyard, and adults tried their hand at winemaking skills—barrel rolling, drawing wine with a jack, and sabrage of sparkling wine with a sabre.
Inside the manor, visitors admired the magnificent coronation gown of Empress Sisi. This perfect replica is a new jewel of the High Tatras at Hotel Lomnica, and it travelled to Svätý Jur solely for this extraordinary occasion. The five-star Hotel Lomnica, which belongs to our family of brands, appeared at Pálffy Manor once again: a stay for two at this beautiful hotel was taken home by the lucky winner of the main raffle prize!
During the evening Polemic concert, our courtyard was quite literally bursting at the seams. The main message that has accompanied our new rosé VIAJUR Dunaj rosé 2022 since its inception was confirmed: the Danube is a river that connects countries, and also a wine that connects people. We felt that connection in the perfect atmosphere throughout the entire day. And thanks to the actors of TV Markíza’s popular series, it is now with us as well: DUNAJ, AT YOUR SERVICE!
