ARTE partners with the South Moravian winery Gurdau

Two chefs, two wineries, and one unforgettable evening. This will be the encounter between ARTE Restaurant and the Czech winery from Kurdějov, which will bring a specially created tasting menu and a unique wine experience.

The partnership between ARTE Restaurant and Gurdau Winery arose from a natural desire to create moments that transcend regional and national borders. This endeavor is a shared idea of people united by a passion for wine and honest gastronomy. Gurdau and ARTE will thus meet at one table for one evening – not as competitors, but as partners who wish to offer guests something truly exceptional.

With Humility Towards Nature

The Moravian winery Gurdau is located in the Mikulov wine region and was established in 2012 with the aim of restoring the local winemaking tradition. This young yet renowned winery has gained attention not only for its architecturally exceptional winery building but primarily for its approach to wine, which is based on working with terroir and a sense of detail. What began as a family business has become a globally acclaimed winery, whose portfolio is dominated by white varieties such as Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, and Pinot Blanc. In its philosophy, much like our VIAJUR winery, it respectfully draws upon a rich winemaking heritage and a reverent approach to nature, characterized by sustainable practices and meticulous cultivation and production techniques.

When Moravia Meets Slovakia

As delicious wine is complemented by excellent food, the winery team also offers visitors exceptional fine dining experiences, right amidst their vineyards. Behind Gurdau’s fine dining restaurant is Chef Josef Súkup – a specialist in seasonal menus paired with wines. For this unique evening, he has prepared a specially designed six-course menu, complemented by amuse-bouches orchestrated by Jirka Zajíček. “We share a similar view not only on the world of wine but also on our approach to gastronomy with Gurdau. We bring seasonal flavors to our guests, revive local recipes, and pay homage to tradition in a modern form. The collaboration between our restaurants is also based on mutual respect for local ingredients and traditions,” explains Jirka Zajíček, ARTE’s Chef. The tasting menu will also include wine pairing, with two wines matched to each course – one from Gurdau Winery and one from VIAJUR Winery. This will be a friendly competition of aromas and flavors from two wineries whose philosophies consider the history of the places where their wine originates. Visitors will thus have the opportunity to taste the best that both regions – Mikulov and the Small Carpathians – have to offer.

Experiential Gastronomy That Connects

A symbiosis of two cuisines and wine philosophies. The menu for this evening will not just be about individual courses, but about the overall harmony created by the teams of both restaurants. I look forward to us jointly preparing an exceptional menu bursting with flavors,” concludes Jirka Zajíček. This evening will be a celebration of winemaking, gastronomy, and a friendly meeting of two regions that are closer than they might seem at first glance. This unique Czech-Slovak collaboration will be presented at Kaštieľ Pálffy on June 7th. More information about the event and reservation options can be found here.
